Ministries at Work

Ministry is another word for "Service".  Jesus, while in this earth, took on the role of a servant. When Jesus was confronted by a mother of two sons who petitioned Jesus, to ask that it be would be granted to her sons to sit at his right hand, Jesus response was not what she expected.  In summary,  Jesus answered and said to the women; He that will be chief among you, let him be your servant. He then said, Even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto but to minister. Matthew 20:21-28. Jesus was the example of a true servant.  He began training the 12 disciples how to follow the example of their teacher.  He taught them that true ministry was to serve and attend to the needs of the people.  He showed them that true ministry was not only about preaching to the people, but it was more about "serving" the people.

Jesus asked Peter, an important question during his last days here on earth, He said to Peter: "Peter do you Love me?", three times. Peter said yes, Lord you know I love you. Then the Lord answered him saying: "If you love me, then feed my sheep".  That feeding he referred to involved: The delivery of the Word. training, coaching, guiding, as well as to providing care for them.

The Pastor (aka Shepherd) is called to the same mandate. They serve the people by filling the major need of feeding the sheep via preaching the word of God, over the pulpit, but that's not enough. The Pastor's role is to ensure that the "flock" is being cared for. Since the Pastor can't meet all those needs, they must provide a support team that consists of both staff and volunteers that will assist them in meeting the needs of it's members. That is why the church has "Ministry" Departments.

The "work of the ministry" is GREAT but we know that God has gifted each Pastor with members that posses the anointing, skill. talent, gift, expertise, knowledge and wisdom necessary to minister to the needs of the congregants of that local body.  Most of this is done through the gift of volunteerism.  So we are waiting for those of you, who are ready to serve and to come onboard, utilizing your gift & abilities to assist our Church.
